The day I went there was an inpatient day where she goes around the wards so there were no patients in the department. Tuesdays and Thursdays are outpatients and I think she sees about 20 a day. They are mostly rehab cases following burns or fractures but there is the odd case of Guillain-Barre or paralysis.
They have fairly basic equipment but Flora was quite proud to show me the TENS machine and an infra-red light that they use for back pain.
There are only two physios at the hospital now after one passed away early last year. Apparently he went to do some home rehab for a lady who had had a stroke. When she asked him to try some pool therapy he must have forgotten to mention that he did not now how to swim because he drowned right in front of her.
As for me, I seem to have brought the flu with me down the mountain. I am sore and tired and sick and feeling an overwhelming desire to come home. I didn't go in to the hospital today either which I am feeling quite guilty about but I think I just need some time to get over this. A cup of tea and a good night's sleep and I think I will feel a lot better.
I only have one other thing to tell you about today. It happened about a week ago but I haven't been able to work it into a post yet. It doesn't really go well with this one either but I'm going to tell you anyway..... I saw a hedgehog! (At least I think that's what it is, having not ever seen one before).
Isn't he cute?!
Till next time x
Thanks again Ashlie. Summer has really hit here. Have had 2 very hot days. Take care!!
ReplyDeleteIs the hedgehog alive? And the fluey feeling is probably your poor body adjusting to you marching it up to 4500m and down again in a very quick space of time. I am sure I had that feeling, plus crying at the drop of a hat and lots more achy things and I went up and down in 3 weeks!
