By African standards, I will be living in absolute luxury for the next 8 weeks. The house is in a relatively posh area of town with giant houses surrounded by large fences topped off with several layers of barbed wire. Don't be fooled by the dirt road and lack of a stormwater system, this is about as good as it gets.
The house itself sleeps 32 people when at max capacity. At the moment there is only 4 of us rattling around in it so it can be quite quiet at times. It has its quirks too. Like the stairs that slope in ways that make you nauseous, the power cutting in and out and the showers that give you electric shocks whenever the you touch the taps with wet hands (something that is quite unavoidable when showering!).
Apparently a house full of mzungus (white people) can attract quite a bit of attention so we have security guards around the house 24/7. A lot of homes in the street have them too. These guys just sit outside on the gutter all day long everyday. I wonder what they think about.
Till next time x
